There's more galling things that CD Projekt RED has gotten wrong. There's the oddity of Nekkers and Drowners and other baddies suddenly being five times harder in one region than they were in the last, for no reason other than 'Because it's an RPG and leveling.' There's a problem with running into creatures and enemies that are simply leagues beyond your level, just a short distance from where you're supposed to be.
There is a bit of a pacing problem with so much world to explore. Still, there are problems with the open-world design, even if it nevertheless stands high above its peers. There is none of the 'fetch ten griffon feathers' nonsense that plagues so many other open-world RPGs (and MMOs in particular.) I see some of these things as busy work rather than fun, though I generally do enjoy playing the investigator, researching scenes of monster mayhem and tracking beasties down. There are a few too many 'follow this bloke' quests a few too many times you have to use your 'Witcher senses' to follow a trail. This isn't to say that every side quest is perfect.
